Elliot-James Comanescu
Who are you, what do you do and where are you based?
I am Elliot-James Comanescu, Burums first and best employee. (I’m the only employee.) I’m in charge of visual design which entails mostly creating illustrations for the branding, social media and the newsletter. And I’m based in Cardiff.
What is your background and when did you join Burum Collective?
I’m currently studying at the Welsh school of architecture in the hope that I’ll have my own design and architecture practice in the future. I’ve been a part of Burum since the beginning really, Helen and Rachel approached me and it sounded fun so I said yes!
Do you feel like you have learnt a lot about the drinks industry?
It’s safe to say I have learnt a lot since being part of the team. I once worked in a bar for about a week and I don’t really drink so my knowledge is fairly poor. To Helen's relief I now finally know the difference between a barrel and a keg!
When you’re not drawing for Burum what are you up to?
When I’m not drawing for Burum I’m usually head down doing uni work as that takes up the majority of my time. I enjoy riding my bike and reading.
What are some of your favourite things that you have made?
Lucy Dickson and I collaborated on a table which is definitely one of my favourites.
What do you like to listen to whilst you’re drawing?
I tend to listen to a lot of music whilst I draw. ESG, Sonya Spence, A.C.MARIAS, Islet, D’Angelo, Cate Le Bon and the Ratatouille soundtrack are usually on repeat.
I offer to buy you a drink, what’re you having?
I guess it depends on where we are. I’m a big fan of a hot squash or a batch brew.
What is your favourite sandwich filling?
I've only started eating sandwiches like this recently. Prior to this my answer would have been a marmite and nutella sandwich. My new favourite sandwich consists of toasted bread, hummus, lettuce, tomato, red peppers and quorn chicken/ ham slices.
